"The writer Neil Cargill obviously fancies a challenge. The production and acting standards are of an intimacy and intensity not often achieved by the BBC. It makes for gripping radio."
EVENING STANDARD
"The radio debuts of Harry Dean Stanton and Dennis Hopper - it was all prize-winning stuff."
THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH
"Radio drama with truly inventive and exploratory sound. It is, in a nutshell, 21st Century radiophonica at its very best. The journey is a seamless adventure in spot-on sound design that will keep you returning for repeat listens." ELECTRONIC SOUND MAGAZINE
"Those who claim that broadcasting lacks originality will be struggling to make a case after The Golden Demon. Drama? Musical? Documentary? Perhaps all three." THE TIMES
"A miniature tour de force by Miranda Richardson starring in Neil Cargill's first screenplay.
A comedy overlaid with menace - the dialogue is a delight.
Miranda Richardson's finest hour."
THE SUNDAY TIMES
"Forget Doonesbury and South Park, the debate can stop right here. The fact is that Radio 4's Bristow kicks cartoon ass.
The point is that Bristow was born to lose long before The Simpsons made that fashionable. It's not that they don't make 'em like this any more, it's that they make them all like this nowadays.
Stick with the original, kids."
TIME OUT
"Bristow's world was beautifully realised in Neil Cargill's production. The central performance by Michael Williams made Bristow magnificent. There was a grand vision at work there."
THE STAGE
While steeped in the heritage of radio, having produced BBC classics such as My Word! and Week Ending, Neil's work also delves deep into the new realms of experimental and immersive audio, as well as mixed media performance for theatre. In development is a radiophonic drama that aims to submerge the listener in the sea between Scotland and Norway in a new forging of Nordic folklore. A preview in Aberdeen's Lemon Tree received the notice, "Transporting in a unique way - amazing, poignant images created through sound and words... "
There's still room for reminiscence, though, as witnessed by a recent spoken word commission for Paines Plough: Come To Where I'm From.

Neil Gunn Writing Competition 2022 - Commended - Get Me A Stinking Goosefoot
"Bold, experimental use of language and narrative... pushing the boundaries in terms of style and narrative voice."
